WHAT SCLEROTHERAPY TREATS

Sclerotherapy is commonly used to treat:

• Spider veins
• Reticular (blue) veins
• Small superficial leg veins

During treatment, a medical solution is injected into the vein using a very fine needle. The treated vein gradually closes and fades as blood flow is redirected into healthier veins.

Sclerotherapy is the most commonly performed treatment for spider veins on the legs.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM TREATMENT

Sclerotherapy is performed in our clinic and typically takes 30–45 minutes, depending on the number of veins treated.

Most patients return to normal daily activities the same day.

Improvement occurs gradually as treated veins fade over several weeks. Multiple sessions may be recommended depending on:

• Number of spider veins
• Vein size and distribution
• Individual healing response

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR SPIDER VEIN TREATMENT

Sclerotherapy is commonly recommended for patients who have:

• Spider veins on the thighs, calves, or ankles
• Reticular (blue) veins beneath the skin
• Cosmetic concerns related to visible leg veins

Most patients seeking treatment are otherwise healthy and wish to improve the appearance of visible veins on the legs.

During consultation, the physician evaluates:

• Vein size and distribution
• Skin characteristics
• Presence of possible underlying venous insufficiency

In some cases, a venous ultrasound examination may be recommended before cosmetic treatment.

WHEN WILL SPIDER VEINS FADE AFTER SCLEROTHERAPY?

After treatment, spider veins gradually fade as the body absorbs the treated veins.

Most patients begin noticing improvement within 3–6 weeks, although larger veins may take longer to resolve.

Because spider veins often occur in branching networks, treatment is typically performed in stages. Multiple sessions may be recommended to achieve the desired cosmetic improvement.

Individual response to treatment varies depending on:

• Vein size
• Circulation
• Skin tone
• Healing characteristics

IMPORTANT TREATMENT NOTES

Cosmetic sclerotherapy at our clinic is performed for spider veins on the legs only.

Spider vein treatment is considered cosmetic and is generally not covered by insurance.

In some cases, a venous ultrasound evaluation may be recommended before cosmetic treatment to rule out underlying venous insufficiency.

WHY CHOOSE A PHYSICIAN-PERFORMED VEIN CLINIC

Spider veins are often treated in cosmetic settings. Evaluation by a physician experienced in venous disease helps ensure:

• Proper diagnosis
• Safe injection technique
• Appropriate treatment selection
• Identification of underlying vein conditions when present

Dr. Tryzno personally performs all treatments, providing direct physician oversight and continuity of care.
