This page is for patients seeking evaluation and treatment of:

  • Suspicious, changing, or symptomatic skin lesions
  • Benign skin growths requiring removal
  • Cysts, skin tags, and other bothersome lesions
  • Skin cancer evaluation, biopsy, and treatment
  • Facial or cosmetically sensitive lesions

Evaluation-First Approach

Patients are evaluated for a variety of skin concerns, including lesions that are changing, symptomatic, cosmetically bothersome, or clinically uncertain. Each lesion is assessed individually, and management is determined based on examination findings and medical judgment.

Possible recommendations following evaluation may include:

  • Observation and monitoring
  • Diagnostic biopsy
  • Surgical excision
  • Procedural removal for cosmetic or functional reasons

When a procedure is not appropriate, this is discussed clearly. Patient safety and medical judgment guide all decisions.

Conditions Commonly Evaluated and Treated

Based on clinical findings, evaluation and treatment may include:

  • Moles / nevi, including facial moles
  • Suspicious or cancerous skin lesions
  • Benign skin growths
  • Cysts (epidermal, pilar, inflamed cysts)
  • Skin tags
  • Seborrheic keratoses
  • Sebaceous hyperplasia
  • Actinic keratoses
  • Selected lipomas
  • Other bothersome or changing skin lesions

Medical and cosmetic considerations are addressed as part of the evaluation.

Procedural Options Selected After Evaluation

When treatment is indicated, procedural options may include:

  • Biopsy (shave, punch, or excisional) for diagnostic purposes
  • Surgical excision for complete lesion removal
  • Incision and drainage for inflamed or infected cysts
  • Destruction or ablation of selected benign or cosmetic lesions
  • CO₂ laser–assisted procedures for precision, bleeding control, or cosmetically sensitive areas

CO₂ laser use:
The CO₂ laser is used selectively, based on lesion type and clinical appropriateness, and is not the default treatment method

Facial Lesions and Cosmetic Considerations

Facial and cosmetically sensitive lesions require careful technique selection. Management options are discussed in advance, including:

  • Method of removal
  • Healing expectations and scarring considerations
  • Situations where laser treatment is appropriate versus surgical excision

Treatment recommendations are individualized. Not all lesions are managed the same way.
