MEDICAL DERMATOLOGY
Evaluation and Management of Skin, Hair, and Nail Conditions
Medical dermatology focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of skin disease rather than cosmetic enhancement. Many skin conditions are chronic, recurrent, or associated with underlying medical factors, making accurate evaluation essential.
At IVSI, medical dermatology care is provided through careful clinical assessment and evidence-based treatment planning.
CONDITIONS COMMONLY EVALUATED
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Acne and rosacea
- Dermatitis and eczema
- Psoriasis
- Fungal and bacterial skin infections
- Hair loss and scalp disorders
- Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
- Pigmentary disorders (melasma, lentigines)
- Rashes of unclear origin
- Chronic itching or skin irritation
- Nail disorders
Not all conditions require procedures. When appropriate, conservative or medical treatment options are discussed first.
SKIN CANCER SCREENING & DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION
Early detection of skin cancer relies on careful clinical examination and, when indicated, biopsy.
Evaluation may include:
- Full or focused skin examination
- Digital dermoscopy when appropriate
- Shave or punch biopsy of suspicious lesions
Treatment recommendations are based on pathology results and clinical findings.
WHEN SURGERY OR LASER IS CONSIDERED
If a lesion requires removal, biopsy, or destruction, treatment may transition to in-office skin surgery or CO₂ laser procedures.
