PICOSURE FOCUS™ SKIN REMODELING
Non-Ablative Collagen Stimulation for Texture & Fine Wrinkles
PicoSure Focus™ laser skin remodeling is a non-ablative laser treatment designed to improve uneven skin texture, fine lines, and early wrinkles by stimulating the skin’s natural collagen and elastin repair processes.
At International Vein & Skin Institute (IVSI), PicoSure Focus™ treatment is physician-guided and individualized, with careful attention to skin condition, treatment goals, and realistic expectations.
HOW PICOSURE FOCUS™ WORKS
PicoSure Focus™ uses ultra-short picosecond laser pulses, measured in trillionths of a second, to deliver energy into the deeper layers of the skin without removing the surface layer.
Rather than relying on heat to resurface the skin, PicoSure Focus™ creates controlled photomechanical effects that:
- Stimulate collagen and elastin remodeling
- Improve skin texture and firmness
- Preserve the outer skin layer
This approach allows skin remodeling without aggressive resurfacing.
FOCUS™ LENS ARRAY TECHNOLOGY
The Focus™ Lens Array concentrates laser energy into microscopic treatment zones beneath the skin surface.
This targeted delivery:
- Activates the skin’s natural repair mechanisms
- Improves texture and fine lines over time
- Minimizes thermal injury to surrounding tissue
Because surface damage is limited, post-treatment skin reactions are typically mild and short-lived compared to traditional ablative lasers.
CONDITIONS COMMONLY TREATED
PicoSure Focus™ skin remodeling may be used to address:
- Uneven skin texture
- Fine lines and early wrinkles
- Mild skin laxity
- Textural acne scarring
Treatment areas commonly include:
- Face
- Neck
- Upper chest (V-neck area)
Treatment selection depends on skin thickness, condition severity, and overall skin health.
Patients seeking treatment specifically for acne scarring may also benefit from reviewing our Laser Treatment of Acne Scars page, which outlines condition-specific evaluation and treatment options.
TREATMENT EXPERIENCE
Patients often describe the sensation during treatment as brief prickling or snapping sensations. Sensitivity varies depending on the treatment area and individual tolerance.
Topical Anesthetic
- Not routinely required
- May be applied in-office approximately one hour before treatment for patient comfort
Some patients choose to take an over-the-counter pain reliever prior to treatment.
EXPECTED RESPONSE AND ACTIVITY
Following PicoSure Focus™ treatment:
- Mild redness or tenderness typically resolves within 1–3 hours
- In patients with sensitive skin, redness may persist up to 24 hours
- Most patients return to normal daily activities the same day
Skin remodeling occurs gradually as collagen production increases over time.
NUMBER OF TREATMENTS
As with most non-ablative skin remodeling procedures, multiple treatment sessions are typically required.
General treatment guidelines:
- Fine lines and texture: often 3–5 sessions
- Treatments are commonly spaced about 4 weeks apart
The exact number of treatments varies and is determined during consultation.
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS
- PicoSure Focus™ does not remove skin and does not replace surgical procedures
- Results develop gradually and vary by individual
- Multiple treatments are commonly required
- This treatment does not address vascular redness or active inflammatory skin conditions
Accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment selection are essential.
