CONDITIONS COMMONLY EVALUATED AND TREATED
Medical dermatology visits often begin with symptoms rather than a confirmed diagnosis. Based on clinical findings, evaluation and treatment at IVSI may include a wide range of skin, hair, and nail concerns, such as:
- Acne and acne-related conditions, including inflammatory and cystic forms
- Rosacea and facial redness, with inflammatory and vascular components
- Eczema and dermatitis, including atopic, contact, and irritant dermatitis
- Psoriasis and other inflammatory skin disorders
- Chronic, recurrent, or unexplained rashes
- Skin infections, including bacterial, fungal, and viral conditions
- Pigmentary disorders, such as age spots, melasma, and post-inflammatory pigmentation
- Wrinkles and photoaging, when medical or procedural treatment is appropriate
- Suspicious, changing, or symptomatic skin lesions
- Skin cancer, including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment planning
- Hair and nail disorders, including hair loss and nail changes
Not every condition requires procedural treatment. When appropriate, conservative or medical management is discussed first, and treatment recommendations are guided by diagnosis, severity, and individual patient factors.
SKIN CANCER SCREENING & DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION
Early detection of skin cancer relies on
careful clinical examination and, when indicated,
biopsy.
Evaluation may include:
- Full or focused skin examination
- Digital dermoscopic examination, when appropriate
- Shave, punch, or excisional biopsy of suspicious lesions
Definitive diagnosis and further treatment recommendations are based on pathology results.
WHEN SURGERY OR LASER IS CONSIDERED
In some cases, evaluation may identify a skin lesion that requires further diagnostic or therapeutic intervention. When appropriate, care may transition to in-office skin surgery or laser-based procedures for biopsy, removal, or targeted treatment.
